Symptom of Chicago’s Nanny State: Signs Everywhere

IMG_3758_C_R2

Remember when a stop sign was enough to get the message across?  No longer.

The photo above shows just how ridiculous things have gotten.  It was taken on N. Lake Shore Drive West next to the Diversey Driving Range.  Within half a block there is: a sign warning of the stop sign at the next intersection, a sign warning that pedestrians will be crossing at that stop sign, and finally the stop sign itself.

Talk about overkill.  If there are really people out there who need two warnings to stop at a stop sign, those people should not have a driver’s license.

Unfortunately this has become the rule rather than an exception.  Examples can be found all over.

For a city with as many financial problems as Chicago to be wasting money on signs is offensive, especially when taxes keep going up.
